Point Cook Library underwent a major renovation and needed a solution for book shelving that suited their modern design. In particular, they were seeking additional book display areas and to make their spaces more flexible.
Due to growing patronage, especially among early years and junior programs, they wanted flexible shelving options, on wheels, to adjust the collection layout as needed. They turned to Raeco for all their shelving needs, as well as book tubs, book display units [cubes], laptop tables and soft seating. New bayends gave existing shelving a sleek and modern look.
A striking feature of the new fit-out is the huge, curved Colosseum seating and shelving unit for the picture books. Patrons love how it looks and are always using the inbuilt seating, and Library staff love the sheer number of books it can hold.
Display cubes are particularly effective for showing off new items. “We are always topping these up,” explains Rhonda Rathjen from Wyndham City Libraries. “And the shelving on wheels is fantastic, it is easy to move and lets us open up space for big events.”
During the renovation, the Raeco team were onsite to consult, and provided fresh ideas which the library incorporated.
