In 2020, the library underwent a transformation with the implementation of new, Australian-manufactured Linea shelving. The shelving layouts and configurations were designed by library designer Kevin Hennah. This year, we further enhanced the space by updating all seating and tables with premium Australian-made furniture from Raeco.
Working directly with Raeco, Brentwood staff and Raeco staff carefully selected furniture pieces and fabrics to match the library’s needs.
To optimise the space, we developed both 2D and 3D floor plans to ensure the strategic placement of furniture. Each piece is mobile, offering flexibility and enabling the library to adapt to multiple uses.
We created distinct zones throughout the library by clustering furniture and using shelving as dividers to foster a range of activities. Browsing and group study areas were positioned along the expansive windows, with comfortable B2B lounges and laptop tables for relaxed, collaborative work.
For individual study, we incorporated Australian-manufactured high benches along the walls, providing quiet and functional workspaces.
A natural, neutral colour palette was chosen to complement the space, with the addition of Raeco-exclusive Indigenous artwork featured on the collaboration pod ottomans, bringing a unique and culturally rich touch to the design.
